Belted Kingfisher

I was wandering about Peace Valley with my camera when I heard the rattle of this Belted Kingfisher. This bird is extremely skittish and I found it very hard to photograph it. After a lot of slow stalking, I was able to get a shot through some branches. Still in the early stages of bird photography, I chased it too aggressively from tree to tree.

This isn’t among my favorite photographs – but it’s the only one I have of a kingfisher. Some day, a better shot…
