Carolina Chickadee

I spotted this Chickadee as I was exiting Peace Valley park. A very tiny, skittish bird it was hard for me to track it with my lens. This was the only shot of it reasonably in focus and sharp. My Merlin Bird ID proposed the Carolina and Black-Capped Chickadee as the possibilities – it looks closer to the Carolina Chickadee to my eyes.

Carolina Chickadee @ Peace Valley | D7200, Nikkor 200-500mm | 1/1000, f/5.6 @ ISO 250

It’s a mediocre image – I wasn’t able to get a clear sidealong shot of the Chicakdee. Also, the tendency of my camera to focus on the branch, instead of the bird shows strongly here.
