Northern Cardinal

After our treasure hunt as we were heading back to our car. This Northern Cardinal was sitting on a low branch keeping a wary eye on us.

Northern Cardinal @ Peace Valley | D7200, Nikkor 200-500mm | 1/1000, f/8 @ ISO 1800

Although the photo came out nicely, I have a few complaints. I should’ve dropped the shutter speed a little to avoid the high ISO – with the bird sitting this wouldn’t have been an issue. Also, the background here is drab and distracting at the same time. On the whole, I prefer the look of an earlier Cardinal photo of mine.
